　　表示病情的缓解、消退，可以用resolve，当主语是病人、病灶或病情时，一般作为不及物动词存在，而用主动语态。

　　所以，上句应该表达成：

　　The patient received intravenous antibiotic agents, and the fever and eye drainage resolved after the first day of treatment.

　　当主语是疾病、病情、症状时，本身常作为不及物动词而用主动语态的词还包括：subside、heal、improve、lessen、ease、develop。

　　这些词除了subside，也可以用作及物动词，只是主语不再是疾病、病情、症状。

　　These symptoms subsided after treatment.

　　The fractures healed after plate fixation.

　　Plate fixation healed the fractures.

　　Respiratory symptoms improved in 10 patients.

　　This therapy improved respiratory symptoms in 10 patients.

　　Abdominal pain lessened after massage.

　　Massage lessened abdominal pain.

　　The pain eased when he vomited.

　　Vomiting eased his pain.

　　Chronic lung disease developed after an infection with a common type of respiratory virus.

　　The patient developed chronic lung disease after an infection with a common type of respiratory virus.

　　不过，当主语是疾病、病情、症状时，以下这些词不能作为不及物动词，而只能作为及物动词使用被动语态：

　　Symptoms were relieved / alleviated / reduced / mitigated ...
